Layer separation / delamination (cracks between layers)
Layers split apart horizontally, sometimes mid-print, and the part breaks along layer lines.
Needs tuning delamination layer separation splitting weak layers
Likely causes
- Nozzle temperature too low
- Cooling fan too strong
- Layer height too tall
- Drafty environment
- Moisture in filament
How to fix it
- Raise nozzle temperature by 5–10 °C for better inter-layer bonding.
- Reduce part cooling, especially for ABS/ASA/PETG.
- Lower layer height so layers bond more thoroughly.
- Enclose or shield the printer from draughts.
- Dry the filament.
Work through it in order
The fastest path to a fix
Change one thing at a time and print a small test. Start with the first fix listed — it is the most common cause.
