PLA-CF (carbon fibre) settings for the Prusa MINI+

A starting profile for printing PLA-CF (carbon fibre) on the Prusa MINI+ (180 × 180 × 180 mm, open frame, Bowden). Tune from here with a temperature tower and a flow test.

SettingStarting value
Nozzle temperature200–230 °C (start 215)
Bed temperature50–60 °C (start 55)
Print speed60 mm/s
First layer speed20 mm/s
Layer height0.2 mm (0.2–0.28)
Retraction distance5 mm
Retraction speed40 mm/s
Part cooling fan80%
EnclosureOpen
Drying before use45 °C for 4 h

This is a well-matched combination: the printer meets the material's requirements without compromise.

Why these values

The Prusa MINI+ is a Bowden machine, so it needs longer retraction (around 5 mm) to relieve nozzle pressure. Its usable speed is around 80 mm/s, so the 60 mm/s above is within the comfortable range for this material.

Cooling is set to 80%: this material needs strong cooling for detail and overhangs.
